Iceland is one of the most picturesque countries in the world and the most wonderful place for landscape photography. It’s a photographer’s paradise, really. I was there this past Fall, and from the countless waterfalls to colorful mountains, glaciers, icebergs, volcanic beaches, story-book-looking farm houses, northern lights, and moss-covered everything(!), it was difficult to drive a mile without being confronted with yet another breath taking sight. I don’t know how many times I exclaimed “wow” out loud in my 7 days there.

If you are planning to visit Iceland and want to take your DSLR with you, prepare for a lot of rain and drastic hot to cold weather. Your lens will get foggy a lot from the weather change, so pack a camera bag and cleaning cloths to protect your lens from moisture. A rain cover and tripod are also musts. Before you go, if you are not already a seasoned photographer, learn how to use your DSLR! There are a lot of guides out there to give you a basic understanding of how to do use your camera, and if you decide you want a hands on experience to understand the fundamentals of what magic you can get out of your DSLR, come take a class at iWink. Class schedule here.
